The 2012 Global Conference on Women in the Boardroom will bring together in Washington, DC, corporate executives, government officials and corporate stakeholders worldwide to focus on initiatives underway around the globe to achieve gender balance on corporate boards.  We will talk with the CEOs and board chairs of companies that have championed gender diversity, and hear from international coalitions of business leaders who are working to accelerate progress. Our day-long forum will also feature stakeholders – institutional investors, executive search firms, and corporate governance experts — who are using their financial clout, advisory roles, and regulatory oversight to facilitate change. We will be updated on research on the impact of gender diversity in the boardroom.

Keynote:  Commissioner Elisse B. Walter, Securities & Exchange Commission

Among the board chairs and CEOs participating in the 2012 SAIS Conference:  Stephen Fitzgerald, retired chairman and CEO, Goldman Sachs – Australia; Joseph Keefe, President & CEO, PAX World Investments;  Barbara Krumsiek, Chair & CEO, Calvert Investments, Inc.; Shelly Lazarus, Chairman Emeritus, Ogilvy & Mather; Bill McCracken, CEO, CA Technologies;  Shireen Muhiudeen, Managing Director, Corston-Smith Asset Management, Malaysia; Jim Murren, Chairman & CEO, MGM Resorts International; Jane Shaw, retired Chairman, Intel Corp; and Mark Weinberger, Chairman & CEO-Elect, Ernst & Young.

Three international associations of corporate CEOs and board chairs — CEO Champions (global), 30% Club (UK board chairs), and the Male Champions of Change (Australia) — have joined the SAIS conference as Strategic Partners.
